Mark Watson, PHD
Doctor Mark Watson is a Physical Therapist and driven entrepreneur with a passion for helping others.
In 2009, after more than a decade of progressive success, first as a clinician, and then managing dozens of physical therapy clinics for a nationwide rehabilitation provider, Dr. Watson stepped out on his own to found Watson Healthcare Solutions, a consulting firm focused on orthopedics, spine and rehabilitation businesses. Following several successful consulting engagements spanning a variety of care settings, Dr. Watson was then pursued by and chose to partner with the North Carolina-based practice, BreakThrough Physical Therapy, where he also served as Chief Operating Officer until late 2016.
During these years, Dr. Watson served for a time as adjunct faculty for his alma mater, Duquesne University, where he helped to foster clinical internships and new academic affiliations for the University’s School of Health Sciences. Additionally, in 2017, Dr. Watson taught the first Professionalism and Leadership course for High Point University’s inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy class, and he continues to serve on HPU’s Physical Therapy Academic Advisory Committee.
In March 2018, Dr. Watson purchased a long-standing Greensboro-based carpeting and flooring business and, making use of his fall prevention expertise, has made it home to an innovative new program – SAFE Flooring for Seniors TM.
Regarding volunteerism, Dr. Watson currently serves as Vice Chair of the Hospice Foundation of Greater Greensboro. He also is active in local and international mission efforts through his church, where he co-leads the Business As Mission (BAM) group. In early 2017, Dr. Watson traveled to Jinja, Uganda to host a BAM seminar for entrepreneurs there on customer service and marketing from a biblical perspective.
Doctor Watson earned his Master of Physical Therapy degree from Duquesne University, his Master’s in Business Administration from Waynesburg University and his Physical Therapy Doctorate with focus in Executive Management from EIM Institute. He also is an Orthopedic Certified Specialist recognized by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties, a Lean Facilitator and a Certified Change Management Specialist.
